DIY Gel Hand Sanitizer

I cringe at the thought of using those “other” hand sanitizers for YEARS and YEARS!! I thought I was doing good. Our skin is the largest organ we have. When we apply anything to our skin it is instantly absorbed into our body and blood stream.

Since my husband’s liver transplant 5 yrs ago (yesterday!.. and he’s doing miraculously well… I’ll be blogging about that later this week.) we started our quest for more knowledge, healthier living, better choices, etc. Wow, the discoveries we have made!! I would keep you here until next week if I elaborated here tonight, but I’ll try to stay on task.

I’ve already blogged on how to make your own hand sanitizer spray, but tonight I whipped up a gel version! (Yes, Young Living offers both a spray and gel Thieves Sanitizer, but I’m a frugal gal and love to make these essential oil recipes!)

In this pic you’ll see this neat gel pump. I kept it around for the bottle and discarded the product inside. Well it sat on my kitchen counter for a couple months now… and tonight I finally made it! The hand spray is nice, but I do love and miss the gel!

Now, if you want to promote Young Living, by all means, use the hand spray!! Nearly every time we are in a restaurant people smell it and ask, “Oh, what’s that?”… or… “Did you spray Thieves?”

My recipe for DIY Gel Hand Sanitizer:

  • 3 tsp witch hazel
  • 10 drops Young Living’s Thieves EO blend
  • 4 drops Cinnamon Bark EO (optional! I add because I like it to be extra cinnamon-y in fragrance like YL’s)
  • Fill the rest of bottle with Aloe Vera gel, leaving room for the pump and a little space to shake to mix. Now shake it up!

I tested it.. a little goes a LONG way!! Like 1/2 a pump for this particular bottle. I believe you can get these empty foaming pump bottles from your local health food store or on Amazon. Or you can save your bottles from those “other” products you now have! Empty them and make your own!! And guess what?… THEY ARE FAR MORE EFFECTIVE AND SAFER!!

Hello world!

This is my very first blog post! I have said for a couple years now that I wanted to blog, but for some odd reason never got around to it. Well… here I go! I hope you will find this page a blessing. As you can see I am with Young Living, a company I absolutely adore! I’ve been using their products for one whole year now. My entire family loves YLEO’s!  We live in Michigan and to go one entire year without OTC’s is a miracle in itself! We thank the Lord for this company coming into our lives. Not only health wise, but for the financial aspect of it as well. What a blessing!

Since this is my first post, I’ll keep it brief. My favorite oil you ask? Why… it’s Thieves Essential Oil blend! Every household should have this one!! Apply to your kiddos feet to boost immunity. I make hand sprays for all my family members. Did you know Thieves FAR OUT PERFORMS the gel hand sanitizer you’ve probably been using for years? Yes, it’s true!!

Here’s a greahandspray1t hand spray recipe you can make easily, and very affordably! This is a recipe you can modify easily. I actually order the 1 oz spray bottles from Amazon, and use the same amount of drops of Thieves. I like the stronger fragrance of Thieves. I also add a tsp of Aloe or Fractionated Coconut oil. And for a sweet added touch, about 6 drops of Orange Essential Oil.

Positively lovely.. and it WORKS!!

Thought I’d add this pic.. which clearly shows the effectiveness of Thieves essential oil compared to Lavender, Peppermint, and your average everyday hand sanitizer. Make the switch! Get some Thieves!
